FACES Bedford (Family And Children’s Early-help Services) is an independent local charity working across Bedford Borough to support children and families experiencing difficulties, helping them build safer, happier and healthier homes where children can thrive. We provide practical and emotional support to families facing a wide range of challenges, including domestic abuse, poor mental health, social isolation, financial hardship, parenting difficulties and special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). We are committed to ensuring families receive the right support at the right time, regardless of their circumstances, and work closely with statutory services, schools, community organisations and other local charities to provide coordinated support and connect families with additional services where needed. Our BabyBank provides essential items to families struggling to afford the basics for their babies and young children, including nappies, clothing, baby equipment, books, toys, newborn starter packs and formula milk. Our Warm Space and Partnership Tuesday sessions offer welcoming community spaces where families can access advice, practical help and support from partner organisations, including guidance on benefits, housing, budgeting, energy efficiency and other issues affecting family wellbeing. Across all our services, we work alongside families rather than making decisions for them, recognising their individual circumstances, strengths and aspirations. Support is tailored to each family’s needs and may include one-to-one work, group activities, practical assistance, therapeutic interventions or referrals to specialist services.
