Bedford Borough Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information Advice and Support Services (SENDIASS) provide a free impartial, and confidential service to parents and carers of children who have special educational needs and or a disability (SEND). We also offer support to young people with SEN or a disability to help them access the best possible education. Bedford SENDIAS Service aims to encourage partnership between parents, carers, and young people with those responsible for their education and training.

How this service works

You can use the SENDIASS service locator on our website to find the service in your area. You can contact us via phone 01234 276267or email sendiass@bedford.gov.uk and use our online resources. We provide information, advice and support. As an impartial service we ask that the parent/carer or young person contact the service direct to request guidance for concerns relating to special educational needs impacting on accessing education. Where appropriate SENDIASS will offer a 20 minute bookable appointment between 10am and 2pm term time only.

Benefits to the user

We can help individuals understand legislation and the local offer. We also support navigating processes in education, health and social care, where they impact on accessing education. We work with families to enable advocating for themselves and feeling more confident in making informed decisions.
