Tibbs Dementia Foundation
Founded in 2013, Tibbs Dementia Connections supports people living with dementia and their families throughout the dementia journey. Our aim is to help people maintain cognitive function, physical wellbeing, social connections and quality of life, while ensuring they feel valued, understood and connected to their community. We offer over 50 regular groups and activities across Bedfordshire, providing opportunities to build friendships, develop confidence, learn new skills and reduce social isolation. Our services include cognitively stimulating activities, creative workshops, allotment sessions, social groups, physical exercise and sporting activities, including walking football, walking groups, yoga, dancing and indoor bowls. Our Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) sessions, delivered face-to-face and online, help people with a recent diagnosis practise cognitive skills and build confidence. Clear Voices supports people to maintain verbal communication skills and share experiences. Through Music 4 Memory, experienced music therapists bring families together to sing, dance and express themselves, creating opportunities for connection, enjoyment and emotional wellbeing. We also offer The Big Sing online every Saturday, alongside individual music therapy. Our Support for Memory workshops help people living with dementia and their family carers understand the condition, explore practical strategies for living well and discover available support. Our Tibbs Dementia Connections Service provides information, signposting, telephone support and a friendly listening ear. We also offer ongoing support for carers and bereaved families, alongside a weekly newsletter and dementia-related information. At Tibbs, we believe everyone deserves to feel safe, supported and included by connecting people with services, resources, meaningful activities and one another, we aim to promote independence, prevent loneliness and help people continue living fulfilling lives at home and within their communities.
